Stephanie Sultan's Garden A handmade irrigation system was installed in our school garden. Students collected and decorated water bottles which were then filled with soil. They were excited to plant seeds for herbs such as parsley and thyme to harvest later in the year. The colorful addition is uplifting to all those who walk by and we look forward to the next rainfall to water our garden.

Tu Bishbat Sameah! In celebration of ט״ו בשבט, our students engaged in trivia questions and activities challenging their knowledge of berakhot and Eres Yisrael. What berakahah do we say on a tomato? What is the sign to all the berakhot rishonot? They also categorized various fruits, vegetables and foods by the correct berakhah.

Farm Fibers Workshop In connection with their study of yarn and the social studies unit on What do we wear to keep warm in the winter?, our Mekhinot classes went on a field trip to the Queens County Farm Museum. At the Farm Fibers workshop they learned about the process of shearing, washing, carding, dyeing and spinning wool into yarn. The children were able to card (brush) wool, play a natural dye matching game, weave on a loom, and create their own sheep puppets.
